The Admirable Crichton is about a rich family that gets stranded on an island and they are trapped there for an extended period of time (around a couple of years I think). They are forced to depend on the kindness of their servants in order to survive in the wild, wild jungle. Lucky for them their butler is a man who knows how to multitask. It was interesting to see how these people were going to live and this was clearly Mr. Barrie trying to write about different class systems and how things would go differently in that time if the roles were reversed to see how everyone would be treated.
I liked it, but I don’t think I’d read it again just because my reading list is too long! But, I was happy to read a book by J.M. Barrie, it was a pleasant surprise.
